Jessie Goodlein
I grew up in West Irondequoit my whole life wondering what to do when I “grow up.” My mother always said I changed my clothes five times a day and always wanted her to do different styles with my hair. Soon after that I started dreaming of New York City, a fashion career, and hairdressing. Tenth grade hit and we had an assembly about a trade school called BOCES #1 in Fairport. I flipped through the pages and saw cosmetology and knew that was definitely something I wanted to do so I did some research. The first day of school came in the year 2003 and I was off to cosmetology. The bus picked us up at school and dropped us off at The Forman Center. Once I walked into the classroom I was so excited and ready to learn and become a cosmetologist. Soon after I was walking two stages graduating from both high school and cosmetology. My first job was with Cost Cutters, owned by Regis. I worked with Cost Cutters for about two years until I decided to change my work environment from corporation to smaller, up-scale salon and spa in Penfield. This salon and spa was Canalside, where I continued to grow and build my clientele as a hairdresser. I worked there for almost two years until they closed. I am now happier than ever, so excited to work, grow, and learn not only as a hairdresser but as a person here at L. David Salon & Spa.
